Inspiring!

My Twitter handle is @BoobiesMatter.  I love Twitter and have been looking at the hashtags #Powerof39 and #Avon39Walk to get ideas from others.  Something that I also started doing is liking, responding to and retweeting others' successes.

Positive energy was such a huge thing for my family member. The doctors were realistic that the cancer was scary.  A positive comment here and there really helped.  It also kept all of us focused that this was a journey towards healing and not a death sentence.

I am walking alone on this and not with a team.  It really got daunting to think that I had to raise $1800.  But reaching out to coworkers and friends took me to 24% of my goal in just 5 days.  Getting positive feedback from folks has been huge and makes me want to continue.

...and my issue in being uncomfortable raising money is nothing like the need for positivity when it is about fighting cancer.  The doctors know that it is daunting and scary.  People do succumb to the disease.  But the research gives us hope.   More and more success stories give people the will to keep fighting through the -ectomies, chemo, radiation and weird feelings in the body.  I know that the encouragement from friends and family really helped my family member with her will to fight, and she knew that she could win.

I am committed to the women that this walk will support.  And I am committed to those who are working as I am to raising money to walk the 39 miles. Even if it is a like, a retweet or a "woo hoo!"  And seeing their successes makes me know that it is possible to do this; it makes me want to keep going.
